Mars spacecraft heading for traffic jam
Well, better this than the opposite extreme.
Perhaps someone will take the right lesson from this: if we plan to send increasing numbers of increasingly capable probes (and eventually manned missions), we are going to need a permanent, dedicated, high-bandwidth communications node of some sort at Mars. Using Odyssey as a relay is a great idea, but it’s only a start.
I mentioned you in my post on this subject. I’d give you the permalink, but it appears they aren’t working, and tech support hasn’t been particularly helpful. O gomen nassai.
Ciao,
Dan
Change over to MoveableType — it’s the cat’s pajamas.
I plan to, but I’m waiting until I’ve stopped taking five kinds of narcotics. WebCrimson gives me an automatic back-up in case I encephalopathize my computer away, like I did with my last one, and like I did with my wife’s. Hopefully soon . . .
Ciao,
Dan
I believe I have the permalink issue figured out. Try the following link for the hat tip I gave you:
